At The End Of The Day It's All About Family
The Scorched Concepts family is currently supporting a local Veteran and his wife in their time of need.
In 2016 Mary was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and since then it has taken over control of her and her family’s life. As of today, Mary has reached the advanced stages of Alzheimer's disease and is now requiring 24/7 care from her family.
In November 2019, the family took another turn for the worst. This time Mary’s husband Russell, who is her primary caregiver, had fallen deathly ill.
After going in for a check-up, Russell found out he had stage 4 renal failure on top of 80% blockage in his heart (the widow maker). He was immediately taken to the hospital where he would spend the next 2 months, during the time of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Russell has not been home to be with his wife since being admitted in November, and as you can image this is extremely difficult to explain to Mary who thinks her husband is gone.
Today Mary is still living in her home with her daughter who is watching over her, while her husband is currently in a rehabilitation center awaiting his heart surgery. Since Russell was the primary giver for the family and no longer able to work, the household bills have become an added burden for this already broken home.
Even though Mary is prone to misplacing her thoughts and memories, she still remembers how she met the man who would change her life forever.
Russell and Mary met the year of 1981 while both were living in Washington. Russ had just retired from 4 years in the navy with honors and was looking to start his civilian life. It didn’t take long for the two to meet, fall in love, and start a beautiful journey together.
Russell would go to the ends of the earth for his Mary and is having a hard time not being there for her when she needs him the most. Russ fears they are going to lose their home and Mary will be forced to live in a senior facility.
Since November, Scorched Concepts has been sending financial support to Russell and Mary. Each flag that has been purchased has gone to help with medical bills, home expenses, groceries, and professional home care 3 days per week for Mary.
Scorched Concepts will continue to donate 25% of all flags sold to support this family indefinitely, and we are asking for added support from our community.
Please prayerfully consider how you would be willing to support this family during this unfortunate time. Either through prayer, purchase of a flag, and/or donation.
It has always been important to Scorched Concepts to be there and give back to the Veterans in need and their families, along with supporting local law enforcement and first responders.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the expected wait time I should expect after placing an order for a flag?
A: Each flag is made to order and will be handcrafted with the highest level of quality as our top priority. Our goal is to have a 1-2 week or less turnaround time for each order, but in case order volumes are high please allow for a 4-6-week lead time after placing your order.
Q: I have a very specific location on the flag that I want my word engraving. How do I ensure the script engraving will be where I want it to be?
A: If you have a very specific request in mind then please describe your request in detail while filling out the form on our contact page. If there is any confusion, then we will email you for clarification before beginning the engraving.
Q: I have a specific flag idea in mind, but it is not located on your website, What is the best way of inquiring about a specific flag idea or request?
A: The best method for reaching us is by emailing [email protected] and attaching any pictures along with the description of your idea. We will review the request and send you a response usually within one business day.
Q: I have a detailed insignia that I would like to have engraved into the union but I'm afraid it might be too complex or cloudy. Should I send the image for your review prior to placing an order?
A: Yes! but we also want to ensure we can deliver quality work on the piece you are requesting. Send us an email with the image attached and we will typically respond within one business day and give you our recommendation.
Q: What are the limitations as to what I can have engraved into the union of my flag?
A: We have found that insignia's, script, and symbols produce the best results when choosing how to customize your own flag. The more defined the lines are in the image, the more defined your engraving will be. The simplest images often produce the most extravagant flags.
Q: How do I properly hang my flag?
A: Each flag comes standard with a heavy gauge wire already installed for easy mounting. For larger/heavier flags, a “French Cleat” is an available option on the back. You will want to locate two studs in the desired hanging location prior to mounting.
